PROJECT Trio is composed of three composer-performers: Greg Pattillo, the flautist, Eric Stephenson, the cellist, and Peter Seymour, the bassist. They are known for integrating many styles into their music such as hip-hop and jazz, and they often use their artistic versatility as a way to reach out to the youth and teach them about the basics of music, especially the joys of improvisation and composition.
Greg Pattillo, in particular, is well-known for his innovation with beatbox flute. He has workshops that teach his extended techniques as well as a method book entitled An Introduction to Beatbox Flute. Recently, he was commissioned by the National Flute Association to write a solo piece for the 2011 Convention High School Competition. It is entitled Three Beats for Beatbox Flute.
