Lately I’ve been exploring the albums Draumalandið by Valgeir Sigurðsson as well as Awake by the NOW Ensemble in addition to my usual listening on Q2:
- Past Tundra, by Valgeir Sigurðsson and Nico Muhly, for solo viola and mixed chamber ensemble including electronics
- “I offer prosperity and eternal life…”, by Valgeir Sigurðsson, for mixed chamber ensemble including electronics
- Beyond the Moss, by Valgeir Sigurðsson, for prepared piano and mixed chamber ensemble including electronics
- Everything is an Onion, by Timothy Andres, for piano
- Four Critical Models, by Mohammed Fairouz, for string quartet. (I’ve only heard movement three, “Catchword An Oriental Model” via Q2, but I would love to listen to the rest soon.)
- Awake, by Patrick Burke, written for the NOW Ensemble
- Burst, by Mark Dancigers, written for the NOW Ensemble
- Change, by Judd Greenstein, written for the NOW Ensemble
